I graduated from college when I was 22. I traveled domestically, partied and lived such a carefree life with no stress, no fear and didn't care about money because I was used to being broke! I moved to L.A. when I was 23, was cut off by my parents but continued the same lifestyle except with a little more responsibility because I was 3,000 miles from home and living on my own.

When I turned 30, I had done so much in my 20's I didn't realize I had spoiled myself and now wanted to live the life I had been experiencing but taking it to the next level. For some reason I no longer wanted roommates, I now wanted to travel internationally and stay in the nicest hotels, eat at the best restaurants, and live in the suburbs. That's when the bills started piling up. The responsibility I had accumulated was so unreal and beyond the scope of what I was used to... Understanding my new found taste in lifestyle, I realized I had to work hard to make money so I could continue to afford and enjoy it.

Not only did I expose myself to so much life had to offer in my 20's, but I had made so many mistakes that I didn't learn from until I reached my 30's. In my 30's If I made a mistake or was wrong, I couldn't behave or react in the same way I would've in my 20's. I actually had to suck it up and own it, acknowledge my faults and express apologies. Even if I didn't want to, but I knew it was the grown up and right thing to do.

In my personal opinion 30 is not the new 20. I feel someone made that saying up to justify two things...

1.) Visually speaking, some people age gracefully appearing extremely young

2.) From a mental perspective some 30 somethings are ridiculously immature and saying 30 is the new 20 justifies that behavior.

I think your 20's are when you make the dumbest mistakes, 30's is when you learn from them, and in your 40's you just know better all together!

Not saying this is true, just my two cents. What do you think?
